Taqueria La Fiesta Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I loved this restaurant! Ate there last night, and ordered the queso fundido as an appetizer. Very authentic, w/ queso fresco and fresh chorizo, not a saucy dip llike some places. Then I got two barbacoa tacos and one carne asada taco, plus a chorizo quesadilla. The tacos were dressed just like in Mexico, w/ onion, cilantro, and lime wedge. The waitress was great, funny and engaging, and very helpful. Even the kitchen staff was awesome (I was there at closing time, and they came out in the dining area to chat and thank us for dining). Will definitely return!

Me and my husband went there today. Simply delicious! We both ordered the special which was 4 tacos for $5 and also ordered the guacamole. The guac took a while to come to us but we could tell that it was freshly made to order.. Very yummy overall! We will go back for sure

We happened to visit on taco Tuesday, what luck! We tried several different kinds and all were great. The marinated beef was my fav.

If I could give Taqueria La Fiesta more than 5 stars, I would!!! Over the last 6 months I have become a regular customer at this restaurant. The owners and kitchen staff are extremely friendly and caring. We are on a first name basis and they treat my boyfriend and I like family. I do not have family in this state and this is where I come for comfort food and a welcoming atmosphere. The food is excellent and I have never been disappointed with anything I've ordered. The prices are very reasonable. If you are ever unsure of what to order, ask for a recommendation. Almost everything on the menu is under $10 and you will not be hungry in an hour. They are also offering some traditional Mexican desserts, made from scratch, not from a box. Everything is made by hand by experienced people who really care about the food. You can tell that a lot of heart goes into every dish. I have experienced flavors and seasonings that I never tasted before and now I cannot get enough! This is not mass produced drive thru style food. Your meal is cooked while you wait, enjoying complimentary chips and authentic style salsas (red, green, and pico style). Or while you sip on some cinnamon coffee or tea, Jarritos, cola, horchata.... Mexican food in general provides many choices for vegetarians, vegans, lactose intolerant, gluten free diets. The menu is diverse, they do not rely heavily on cheese (unless you order gringo style, stick with authentic) and sour cream or queso. There are a lot of dishes with nopales (cactus pads), something I never tried prior to eating here. Love them now! Breakfast served all day, lunch style and entree options. Check out their rotating daily specials and some amazing fish tacos now available on Friday's! This place is an all around excellent Mexican restaurant. They are a great small business to support in Ann Arbor! I will be eating there again tomorrow.

I just got back from my first visit here. We got there and it was a hole in the wall type place. We grabbed our own menus and seated ourselves at table 3 (of six total) in the back. My husband liked his view of a painting depicting a woman falling out of her blouse while making tortillas. The waiter brought us cold chips straight out of the bag, I know because the place is small enough I saw him do it. I admit it worried me. He brought a little bowl of salsa though which was fabulous. Then he carted over a couple of squeeze bottles of more salsas. The green tomatillo was fresh and nice, the other was quite hot and very tasty too. Feeling better I order the three taco dinner with beans and rice. I chose the steamed beef, the marinated beef and the fried pork. All three meats were unique tasting and delicious. The tacos were covered with onion and cilantro with a wedge of lime for squeezing over them. They were totally awesome. The portion was perfect for me and I was full and happy. My husband got the three chicken enchilada dinner, which was on the small side but tasty. A bit boring for my taste but he found it just right except for the portion. He left hungry even though I encouraged him to order additional food. He is a big eater though. The waiter was standard at first but when I engaged him enthusiastically about the food he was very chatty and helpful. He highly recommended the tortas and encouraged me to give them a whirl next visit. I think I may but the tamales are awfully tempting instead. I was very pleasantly surprised and cannot wait to go back. I am going to take my dad next time because it is his kind of place :).

Although very small and not too appealing from the curb, this restaurant has some interesting menu choices (stuffed cactus paddles, menudo) and has very consistently high quality food. Service is usually ok :-)

OMFG, this is NO longer the most decent Mexican place around A2. Why? For starters, I think this joint has a new owner. This menus are different and there's a new owner/waitress that's quite the fake friendly. On to the food - Kroger brand tortilla chips were better than the ones we were comped at this place. The "salsa" was comprised of random chunks of tomato, cilantro and onion diluted in water. When we ordered queso, the owner gave us a puzzled look and returned to us with an oily pile of what used to be shredded mozzarella cheese with random bits of chorizo. In addition, the owner got our order wrong twice. We ordered a tamale plate but instead we got three plain tamales one of which was previously frozen as it was still cold when served to us. We also ordered a taco plate...or so we thought. Our tacos never came out because the owner accusingly said we never ordered tacos from her. So much for satisfying my craving for Mexican food...

Loved the taco choices and the frijoles were yummy!! They also catered my friend's graduation party and did a great job!

After moving back to Michigan from Texas last year, I have really missed good Tex-Mex / Northern Mex. So, I called this place for some take-out to celebrate mom's birthday. George (owner? chef? both?) was super nice and accommodating, and put together an awesome meal for 6 - various enchiladas, tamales, rice, beans, guacamole, salsa, etc. It was delicious, especially the tomatillo salsa, which was easily the best I've had in town. The price was incredibly reasonable and most importantly mom was impressed. Thanks George! Oh, and there was enough food left over for a couple more meals... I'm looking forward to returning for a proper sit-down meal!

Chips and homemade pico de gallo were good. Lots of vegetarian options available including a variety of cactus containing dishes. They were out of cactus when I was there unfortunately so had mix and match tacos- two much room and one mixed pepper. They were all very good. they bring out the green and red salsa in squeeze bottles to go with dinner just like my fav place in Chicago.

Went here for the first time ever with a Living Social coupon. I actually wasn't expecting much but was really pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it a lot. I think it's not quite as good as TMAZ but still pretty close. I'll definitely be back here to try out more of the menu.

(I did this review before trying La Casita and Pacifico) Ann Arbor has many great ethnic restaurants, however, Mexican is not one of them, for truly authentic mouthwatering Mexican cuisine you have to travel 3.5 hours due west to Chicago, otherwise La Taqueria is it. A family owned buisness nestled between a liquor store and Marco's pizza propably not the best location and there are only 3 to 4 tables so takeout is propably the best way to go. However, this is the only place in Ann Arbor that makes there Salsa fresh, both the red and Verde. (1. rule in knowing a Mexican place sucks is if there salsa is red salty canned crap and their spicy salsa red salty canned crap with crushed red peppers you know you about to have some gringo Mexican food.) In addition there tacos are real tacos you would find in Mexico, simple; cilantro, corn tortilla, onions, and quality spiced meat with freshly added salsa, recommend the verde. Their burritios are also pretty good not filled with rice like a lot of these gringo places, another tall tell sign your about to have some gringo Mexican, rice in your freakin burrito, by the way this done purely as a filler. You will never see rice in a burrito, taco, or gorditia in Mexico. The major drawback of this place is the price, yes there tacos and food are prob the best in Ann Arbor, paid 6 dollar for a burrito about half the size of Rio wrap, maybe since Rio wrap makes up for it by adding rice. But have had much bigger more afordable burritos in Chicago. Also they charge extra for salsa major no-no, and they double wrap their tacos with two corn tortillas and trust me when I tell you it is not because the first one is going to burst or anything, most of the time I do not even eat the second tortilla. There missing a lot of authentic foods, no sope's or menundo, but if you ask for the chefs specials the owner does have some delicious homeade seafood soups that are to die for, there not on the menu, but she does make it from timt to time.

This is the best Mexican place I've been to in Ann Arbor. Reminds me of the taco shops back in California. The chips were served with a fresh, spicy salsa that had more heat than any salsa I've had in Michigan. I ordered ground beef tacos, beans and rice. It was great, not too filling, and best of all it had FLAVOR. Too many Mexican places in A2 have food that looks like it should be good, but then tastes like nothing when you bite into it. Not so with this place. The owner was working when I went in, he's very friendly and definitely cares about feedback from the customers. It's a small place, no frills, just good authentic Mexican. Definitely a place I'll be going to again.

OK, I put my faith in Yelp today. So many people liked this place I figured it must be good. The Deuce, normally a hive of culinary delights from around the globe, has lackluster fare in the Mexican department. Yet I always remain hopeful. Today's visit proved once more what I should keep at the forefront of my mushy grey lobes when making last minute dinner decisions on an empty cavern of a stomach: there is NO authentic Mexican food to be savored in Ann Arbor. Ever. Don't kid yourself! Belly is full, but FAR from satisfied. My stomach, if not my wallet, would have been MUCH happier if I had driven to Detroit. First: the chips. You're given a mouse-sized portion, and they tasted as if they were recently freed from a cellophane prison. They were deceptively warm, but my money is on the heat lamp in the back. The salsa was average, though it was far more flavorful than anything else consumed. The guacamole was barely passable. I swear there was mayo or another unnecessary creamy ingredient in it, because the color was way too light and the avocado flavor was diluted. There is no excuse for filler in guac. Especially when you're paying $3.50 for about a 1/4 cup. My companion ordered iced tea, which arrived as cranberry juice, or some kind of amalgam of tea and (mostly) cranberry juice. It was not bad, but not what was asked for. The food? BLAND. I ordered tacos with marinated beef. Greasy and bland. The rice was dry (and bland). The beans were plasticine (not even copious dollops of salsa could save 'em). The burrito my companion ordered suffered the same fate, and worse: the asada was dry as a bone. I heard the same family that owns La Fiesta Mexicana in Ypsi owns this place. I haven't been to La Fiesta in a while, but my memories recall much superior grub than what I had today. I was really disappointed. Still, I will remain vigilant for that day when Ann Arbor gets its Mexi-due.

Consistently yummy food! I love to stop in for a quick, cheap, relaxed and delicious lunch. The breakfasts are really good if you're recovering from a rough night. The tacos deserve 6/5 stars, but the tamales are a little bland. Still searching AA for the perfect tamale!

I love it! Since I was introduced to their amazing mexican breakfasts back a couple months ago, I've been hooked on taqueria. This is the only mexican restaurant worth eating at in ypsi or ann arbor, period. After you've experienced their perfectly cooked nopales, or delicious seasoned roasted pork, the cravings come on strong and you can't simply lock yourself in a room and "sweat it out" once your hooked. The drinks are great, and wash down the spicyness of the salsa nicely (the hibiscus one in particular). Huevos Divorciados has got to be my favorite breakfast though. 2 sunny side up eggs on fried tortillas, one in red sauce, one in green sauce, along with rice, beans, and a bit of cabbage, its heaven. Any of the specials I've tried have been great, and leave me looking forward to when I get see it around again. To date, the roasted garlic/seasoned mexican fried chicken was probably my favorite one yet, and it makes me so happy to be able to access meals like this because you can tell they are cooked by people who actually care about the food and are talented at preparing it, and it's not pre-made junk heated up in a thermalizer and mass produced. I would recommend taqueria to everyone. I think the staff is awesome, and right away you can tell how involved everyone there is with the place. They put out some really flavorful foods here, passionately, and I'm going to keep soaking it up (the restaurant and the tasty guajillo sauce) every chance I get.

Although staff are friendly, it does not take away of how awful the food really is. I decided to try to this place after getting a deal at restaurant.com . I ordered a tamale and my bf ordered some pork dish (don't remember). The tamale was dry and bland as for my bf's dish.. it was sopping with grease to the point that it was almost inedible. I gave this place another try, but still pretty disappointed when I went to order their cactus dish and they "ran out". As for now - 2stars is a fair rating from previous experience. Do yourself a favor and head down to TMAZ tacqueria instead.. you won't' regret it.

Summary: Pretty much baffled why this place is 4 stars. Food, service and decor is Meh, prices aren't great for what you're getting. Go to La Casita if you want way better food for a bit cheaper Overall: 2.25 stars Food: 2.25 stars Service: 2.25 stars Atmosphere: 2.0 stars Tried a couple chicken and pork tacos, refried beans, rice, salsa etc - standard meal. Not much to say other than nothing special. Yelp tricked me into driving out to this place and thinking it was something special.

I live for La Fiesta. I have been missing good Mexican food and this place has filled that void! My favorite dishes from here are their soups/stews like the homemade chicken soup and beef birria, but I'm also a big fan of their fresh salsa. Ask for the cinnamon tea :).

I really wanted to like this place. I read all the reviews and was very optimistic about coming hear, and borderline excited. Maybe it was the first impression. There was no one in there when we got there at 6pm. When we sat down, we were offered chips. Complimentary chips are usually always the way to my heart, but not these chips and salsa. The chips surprisingly were crunchy, but not the usually fresh and hot tortilla chips that I am used to when visiting my favorite Mexican restaurants. The salsa was exceedingly watery. I'm hoping that we went on an off day, but I actually asked if they had any salsa that was thicker. Our waiter even commented on how watery it was. He brought 3 other salsas out, all of the same watery consistency. They did have a salsa verde that was a little thicker, but salsa verde isn't really my thing, so I can't really comment on that. The salsa was a big turnoff, since I usually always look forward to starting a meal with chips and salsa. I got the taco dinner, and an order of tamales. I love small tacos, with corn tortillas, and some simple cilantro and onion. The tacos were good, along with the beans and rice. The tamales, like mentioned in previous reviews, were quite moist, and pretty good also. I really wanted to fall in love with this place, but I feel like it fell pretty short of what I expected. I'm hoping that I just went on an off day. Taqueria la Fiesta vs. La Casita I would choose La Casita, although my gold standards continue to be El Camino and BTB (please don't laugh)

Pros - packed on a Saturday afternoon at lunchtime - fresh flowers on the tables - authentic corn tortilla tacos with cilantro, onion, and yummy meats - horchata! not too sweet - reasonably priced Cons - chips were a little salty

I think this is the only good Mexican restaurant in Ann Arbor. I'm from Chicago, where taquerias are plentiful and awesome, so I've been dying for good Mexican food in AA. Finally, halfway through my last semester here, I've found it! When I was here, I had their daily special: chipotle meatballs stuffed with eggs. It was yummy. The bean and cheese tamales are good too. The only not good thing about this place is that they close so early, but I'm really looking forward to going back for brunch and another early dinner.

(Originally visited on 2/4/10) I was hoping for a better night out than Tuptim the night before. We were in the mood for mexican food, so here we come. When we arrived at the restaurant (a small place with a few tables, a kid running the register and a guy cooking in the back, there were a group of 10 asians waiting for take-out so we had to wait a bit. I was excited they knew what a horchata was, only one place in Toledo serves it sadly. I settled on a shredded beef rice and beans platter with a large glass of horchata. Delicious was the horchata with flakes of cinnamon, lots of flakes. The shredded beef gets a thumbs up from me, seasoned well, full of flavor, juicy. My friend got tacos and tamales which he said was decent enough. They seem to serve authentic fare here, and the kid said they used to have a place in Mexico. I'm just happy I got a good horchata =)

After much whining about tripe, this place had exactly what my boyfriend was looking for. Personally I was thinking about skipping a meal, but he convinced me that I should at least try it and we could get some pork tacos as well. Well, let me tell you, they were amazing. Who knew that something so good could be served on cheap plastic cafeteria plates? From the looks of it, there's one older guy in the back cooking everything up, and one kid in the front taking orders. But who cares about that when the food is so good! We had to go back and order seconds.

Not bad. The tortas was the standout here - really flavorful. The tacos were pretty good too, and the tamales were alright, though a little dry. Low point was the salsa; it was way too smoky for our taste. Overall, we liked everything better at La Casita (with the exception of the tortas), but we do like to branch out and will continue to do so. :-) It was fun to try out a new place.

I've been a few times and I would recommend the tacos -- I've tried al pastor and carne asada. The tacos are the traditional kind -- two corn tortillas, meat, onions, and cilantro. I would say slightly above the other Mexican food I've seen in the area -- certainly better than El Camino. The staff is also very nice, and the atmosphere is very laid back. Overall, a great place to grab some tacos on a weekday night. I woudn't rate this 4 stars because I'm from California. And honestly, I've not been terribly impressed with Mexican food in Michigan.

I've been dreaming about this place for about six months now, ever since I ran into Mei at a Yelp Elite event who told me that authentic Mexican tacos were available in Ann Arbor. I said to Mei, "You're yankin' my chain. The closest to authentic I've found in A2 is Taco Bell." She says, "No. It's this little dive at Packard and Carpenter." So, I said, "Well, I'm just going to have to try it." I think Mei probably thought I meant I believed her, but it was a dare and promise all rolled into one. As someone who chows down little Mexican tacos whenever I visit Mexico, it didn't seem possible. My friends, it is possible and the dream is alive. I stopped in today, ordered the taco plate and wow-whee! Authentic Mexican tacos! I tried the steak, marinated beef, and steamed beef. All were extremely tasty although the marinated and steamed were a bit tastier. The waitress brought out two salsas to put on the taco, but these were so tasty, it was not necessary. Taco perfection: two warm corn tortillas, beef, some cilantro, and onion = delicious. So simple..and so damn yummy. I'm coming back for the other food....about the only thing I didn't like about this place was the seemingly strange pricing. My taco plate was $4.95, yet an order of guac and chips is $5.95. I'm going to try the guac and chips at some point just because I need to, but given how good the tacos are, I'd rather order a second plate of tacos. Hell, I just decided I'm eating there tomorrow too. Who's coming along?

So I am really not sure why I chose to drive by this place every day for so long without ever stopping. I was hungry for a quick bite and stopped in. I am very picky about Mexican grub as I am always searching for something authentic. This place was great. I asked the server what he would recommend and he said without a doubt he would order the Torta's which are like a mexican sub sandwhich. I have never heard of this so I had the Al Pastor Torta. It was incredible. I also had a few taco's which were amazing as well. While checking the Yelp reviews on my phone at the table, I saw that people talk alot about the Horchata drink so I said what the hell and gave that a try. It was incredible as well. It is a mexican rice/cinnamon drink. Do not pass this place by, it is worth the stop. ON a sidenote, not a big fan of the salsa they serve when you first are seated.. Very runny but decent flavor.

I went here hoping that I'd found a new hotspot for mexican food in the ypsi-arbor area. Unfortunately I left disappointed. My whole experience was lackluster. The waitress was nice, about as nice as a woman who doesn't speak much english yet works at a restaurant in Michigan can be. She didn't understand much of anything we said and wasn't much help with any questions we had. The place was tiny, nothing much to write home about. I order the quesadillas and was disappointed. If i remember right, it was around 6 dollars for 2 6 inch tortillas. Very basic and very small. I left hungry. The salsa was running and the taste was nothing special. For the price, the food just wasn't enough. Maybe I came here on a bad day, maybe I came in with improper expectations. I love going to a lot of other Mexican restaurants around Ann Arbor, BTB Burrito, Moes, Camino Real, etc...and this place just left my wanting more in both taste and portion size.

-Best Taqueria I have Found- I recently moved back from L.A. and have cravings for a serious Taqueria. Most inexpensive "Mexican Food" in the area is Fresh Mex..which is fine if you want "stuff" in a tortilla. Taqueria la Fiesta is just like California Me

I love this place. It's the only restaurant in the area where I will get Mexican food. The food is consistently yummy and they are veggie friendly. The owner is female so I feel good about supporting a woman-owned business as well. And the prices are great for what you get.

So off I went to Taqueria La Fiesta, still in search of a true Mexican establishment in the Ann Arbor area. After reading the reviews I felt like I was going to get a good experience. That I did. I ordered quesadillas as appetizers. They were small in size and a bit pricey however they were delicious. I like the fact they provided you with two sauces. A tomatayo sauce and another spicy sauce. The main meal was a burrito. I would say hands down best burrito I've tried. This is in comparison to: Chipotle, BTB, Mexican Fiesta, and Burrito Borimex. The steak was flavorful, the ingredients fresh, but most important the tortilla was outstanding. I highly recommend it.

Salsa is worth the trip alone. I'll say that I was born in Texas and lived for a while in LA so I've had my fair share of Tex-Mex and Cali-Mex and authentic Mexican food from various regions. I've had unfulfilled cravings for real Mexican food since I moved to Michigan 5 years ago! The tacos are great. Barbacoa, carnitas, chorizo, pollo, asada, pastor; all superb. These are all great go-to items. The beans and rice are great; sometime you may get a batch of too-dry rice, but that's rare. My favorite is the barbacoa platter. That thick, stewy beef in a dark gravy served with tortillas, beans, rice and a few limes. Just add in the chips and salsa (make sure you request the verde salsa for the extra kick), and you are in Mexican food heaven. They have all the Jarritos sodas, try the pina (pineapple) or limon and you've got a super sunny day late lunch. Or a wintery day comfort dinner. If it's cold outside, try the Mexican coffee; has just a hint of cinnamon and is very tummy yummy! The staff is small but friendly. I hope that more people will give this place a try. Especially for take out - they are super quick. I haven't tried their place in Ypsi, I hear it's geared more to the sit-down crowd. Although the Packard location has about 6 tables, I've never seen it full. I try to come here once or twice a week. Prices are super, food is fantastic and the staff is great. Give it a shot! One warning, the credit card machine has gone down twice on me and I had to go next door to the ATM machine to get cash. May be good to call first.

Taqueria la Fiesta is a small restaurant on Packard run by the same people who own La Fiesta Mexicana in Ypsilanti. Whereas La Fiesta Mexicana is inviting for dining in, you'll probably want to get takeout from the Taqueria. The interior is tiny and unimpressive. However, the food is very good. They have some of the same offerings as La Fiesta Mexicana but also a few different items. On a recent trip, I picked up two items to go for less than $5. I can recommend the gorditas. Note: When I called to inquire about the hours, I was told they were trying something special for summer 2008, and were opening for breakfast only on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those hours may go away in the fall, so call ahead if you're considering trying brunch there.

We had the chicken tacos and enchiladas for take-out. The small dining area is cheerfula and perky with bright yellow walls. The service was not particularly in your face cheerful and bright, but efficient, which I tend to prefer. The food was simply a-ok. The corn tortillas are nice, but overall I wouldn't say the meal was anything special

  • Lou S.

Yes good mexican food but not great. My wife had the beef tacos that were very good (would order again), I had the special which was fish tacos and they were not as good. Too much mango and red cabbage which made them watery. Would not order again. Very small place, less than 10 tables. They were playing mexican music which I give them 2 thumbs up for. The man working the counter was very friendly and since they do not have a liquor lic. he told us we could by a beer at the store next door and bring it back (which we did). If I'm in the area again, I would go back.

Real. Mexican. Tacos. Tacos. Mexicanos. Verdaderos. You will not find chimichangas or fried ice cream here. Instead, you will get to taste the food that americanized "Mexican" restaurants are trying to figure out how to duplicate. (and failing miserably). I've lived in Mexico and and been looking for true mexican food for years. This is the real deal! Wasn't completely perfect, but if a restaurant has the gumption to serve real comida mexicana and my kids keep begging for more, they get five stars! Definitely going back! We had a barbacoa and a birria platter and an 'al pastor' burrito. The burrito was just ok. But the other two were fantastic. The pico de gallo salsa they give you with chips is fresh and very good, if not a little heavy on the onions for my taste. The chips were out of a bag. And don't be afraid...my four year old gringo son ate it just fine...it's not too spicy. There is only a small amount of seating, and on the night I was there they did not have enough help to serve every one. So the owners came out and made everything better. True Mexican hospitality (the local waitress, however probably cannot even speak Spanish) The owners are from Guadalajara. They have daily specials that are very intriguing, like tostadas, pozole, tacos de lengua. I am very happy to find a taqueria so close now. My main concern is that I fear too many people will expect this to be "Chilis". It's not, but that's a good thing! Go try it out.

Holy sh*t, that was pretty frickin good. Ok, ok...I know not 100% authentic, but still a solid meal. I had a part of a burrito, pork and Carne asada tacos, and some sort of quessidia (spell check does not speak Spanish). I would definetly recommend trying this place.

I absolutely love this place. I've mostly had their tamales, but happened upon a couple specials that were truly tasty as well. The owner is always there, always buzzing around the restaurant. If there are not too many people, you'll no doubt end up striking up a conversation, but if things are a little more crowded, you'll still get friendly service. I understand these are the same owners of Fiesta Mexicana in Ypsi, but for some reason I find myself at this little location more often. Although the menu is a bit narrower here, everything I've had has been delicious and seemed (based on the little I know about Mexican food) quite authentic. The last time I went for a mole special, they had run out... I do hope to try a similar special some other time soon though! They have jarritos and horchata, always pluses in my book! Oh, and it's very affordable, too, hurrah!

best real authentic tacos i've had around here. tamales are pretty good, too, but the tacos are just superb. don't get the *gringos* taco, just get the regular ones w/ onions and cilantro, that's how they're supposed to be. my favorite is the carnitas, but i haven't tried all of them yet. pretty reasonably priced also

I have not had Mexican food this good since eating on Mission Street in San Francisco. Ditto to everything everyone else had said about the tacos. If you can stomach some coffee with your meal, definitely get the cafe de Olla (sweet Mexican coffee). It's wonderfully sweet, black, and spicy.

I've been in Ann Arbor for almost 3 years, and during that whole time I've complained about the surprising lack of good, cheap, no frills eateries in this town. I guess I wasn't trying hard enough, because just in the past week I've been to several for the first time. The catch is that you have to travel a little bit out of town to find them. Taqueria la Fiesta is my favorite of these recent discoveries. It's cheap, especially for Ann Arbor, and the menu is varied enough to keep you coming. Although I've only been to each place once so far, I found that the tacos here were a little bit more flavorful than those at La Casita (which I liked too). In any case, they are certainly better than anything you'd get in town. If this were Chicago this place would probably get something closer to 4 stars, but you won't find better tacos in Ann Arbor. Taqueria thus gets what I'm gonna start calling an "Ann Arbor Five"! It's sad that Ann Arbor doesn't have more places like Taqueria la Fiesta closer to town, but if you're willing to bike a long ways or drive, this place will satisfy your craving for cheap but good Mexican food.

I have had the horchata, chips and salsa (spicy!!!), chicken tacos, chicken tamales, and cheese and bean tamales and I must say that my absolute favorite is the bean and cheese tamale. The bean and cheese tamales are so good here. They are really moist and WAYYYY tastier than those offered by the tamale stand at the corner of South U and East U: Pilar's Tamales, I believe. They are also a better value. As an FYI, I was informed by the friendly and helpful owner that Fridays are usually fish taco days.

Great, friendly service, good food. I usually come here after the gym because I'm starving for slightly healthier food than normal and I want it fast! Usually 5 minutes after sitting down I have my tacos, ready to eat. The horchata here is delicious and in a huge glass. My parents enjoyed the tamales and I used to as well until I visited Chicago and had the most delicious tamales of my life. I think a good tamale won't require you to douse it in sauce because it will already be so fluffy and the masa flavor shines through, mingling with the cheese or meat or jalapenos added in as an extra. That isn't the case with the tamales at Taqueria la Fiesta, but they will do in a pinch. It's time consuming to make excellent tamales, and if you don't want to embark on such a venture, go ahead and order the tamales here and definitely douse them in the green sauce.

Small, intimate and very much like eating in your mom's dining room. Expect a very laid back atmosphere high on personal contact with the owners and other patrons as well. The food is authentic and amazing. Don't ask for a beer or other alcohol as they do not serve it but you can go next door to the party store and bring in your own drinks. This is a great addition to our favorite A2/Ypsi restaurants.

My wife and I are huge fans of La Taqueria. The woman who runs the restaurant (and is literally the only server I've ever seen there) is a sweet, enthusiastic person who can wax poetic about why she orders her avocados from Chicago or how her most unusual items are the most popular with local food enthusiasts. Most people get carry out here, but we enjoy eating in and the food is delicious and very filling. It's definitely authentic to our experiences in Mexico, so don't expect crunchy taco shells or nacho plates heaping with sour cream. Instead, her cooks craft simple meat/onion/cilantro tacos that are out-of-this-world, not to mention pineapple tamales, marinated pork tortas, and other unique dishes. If you eat in, keep in mind that La Taqueria is also authentic to a real Mexican restaurant in that the service is very informal and at times can be downright slow. We love the place so we don't mind, but that is a definite negative for some people. Finally, no liquor and very affordable. Give it a chance!

Really good Mexican food and the waiters/waitresses are always friendly. Try the Gringas Platter with carne asada. Yum...

I came here with high expectations based on the other reviews but I was a bit disappointed to say the least. The chips were very salty and the dip was way too spicy. Being vegetarians we ordered taco plate and fajitas. The taco with the Rojas filling was good the mushroom one not do much. The fajitas was I guess good. The mexican tea not bad. The lady who came to serve was very nice and went out of the way to get us some samples. I might come back here for breakfast but not lunch or dinner.

This place is a cute little family-owned Mexican place, with pretty good burritos and enchiladas and great salsa. I was quite pleased when I discovered it, however I realized that they tend to close early on slow business nights. This has sometimes left me hungry at 8:30 p.m. when I'm looking forward to a burrito. Hmph. Despite, I am big on supporting local business and I frequent this place.

I loved this place when I was in Michigan. They serve Mexican street food (tacos, tamales, etc). If this place was back in Arizona I would give it 3.5-4 stars. There are not a lot of options for good authentic mexican food in Ann Arbor so I am giving it 5 stars. A bit expensive for Mexican street food. I never went to La Casita so I cannot weigh in on which place is better. I did venture deep into Ypsilanti to go to the La Fiesta Mexicana, which is owned by the same family that runs the Taqueria la Fiesta. La Fiesta Mexican in my one time there seemed to be the equal to the Taqueria la Fiesta but in more formal Mexican cuisine (not street food).

Great service. More authentic and way better than any of the other Mexican joints in Ann Arbor but does not come close to anything you'll find in CA or NY.

Really good tacos, which look kind of puny at first, but they are very flavorful. Can vouch for the pollo, pastor and asada. Also ordered the chicken burrito, which as Mei O. stated aren't bursting with filling. These are California-style burritos stuffed with rice. The ingredients were of very high quality, however. Nicely spiced, but no Ruchi's. (which is only found in Houston area) Also, the salsa is fresh but leaves a little to be desired. All in all, great food for a great price.

I've been here a few times now, and I really enjoy the asada tacos. Their asada burrito was also pretty fantastic. So far it's my favorite Mexican joint in Ann Arbor, although I haven't gotten to many others yet. This place is very clean and staff is very friendly.

very little room for seating. service suffers a little since there is only one server for the entire restaurant. food, however may be the best mexican I've had ever. mexican sodas are great, salsas are perfect, tamales, chilaquiles and nopales were all very great tasting dishes. also this place is easy on the wallet.

LOVE this tiny place. We always ordered tacos, tortas, and their coconut pineapple tamales as dessert. And they were all DELICIOUS!! They also made their own flan which I'm dying to try. The lady at the counter is definitely a delight to have a chat with.

Ate here for lunch. It was actually pretty good and authentic. I had the tacos and they were similar to tacos I've had in northern Mexico. Prices are a little on the high side but not out of line. I would go back.

You will not find better Mexican food in the city limits of Ann Arbor than this taqueria. 3 tacos and 3 tamales for about $10 is a pretty solid meal to share. I would highly recommend the pineapple-coconut tamale and the pastor tacos, but honestly it's all good. I also enjoyed the sweet horchata in a giant glass for $2.

Le sigh. We went back for burritos, were super pumped, and then sad. The burritos were like the torta, a high carb to filling ratio. And the burritos weren't exactly filled. Maybe I'm spoiled because I'm used to burritos that are on the verge of exploding, where as these had their tortillas wrapped over on themselves creating those bites of 4 pieces of tortilla with nothing inside.

Yum! Delicious little hole-in-the-wall type joint. Cheese enchiladas were tasty, options for vegetarians, and I had the daily special - some sort of pork dish in a spicy red sauce that was super flavorful. The real all-star of our visit was the horchata, which was the perfect cool drink for a warm summer day (with no AC running in the restaurant).

After reading several Yelps on this restaurant, we decided to give it a try ~ wish we hadn't! The food was ordinary, lacking taste and truly unimpressive! Our server was very friendly, enough to overlook silly mistakes like asking for "pepper" and being brought a piece of paper :) We decided that perhaps the tasteless food was more authentic Mexican rather than the flavorful, American-ized Mexican. Having never been to Mexico to validate our hunch, we accepted that "that's just the way it must taste!" Server mentioned that the owner had another location in Ypsilanti, which was less of a fast food feel, more dinner-esque! Doubt If we will rush back to this location.

This is the best mexican food I've had in the Ann Arbor area. Some of the mexican food in A2 is worse than some mexican cafeteria food I've had in Texas. I've spent a couple weeks in Mexico and lived in Texas half of my life (whatever that means), so I would say this is pretty close to a real taqueria taste. They actually use corn tortillas and put cilantro and onions on the taco! The salsa has improved a lot over the past years and the pastor is definately tasty. It's nothing like what I'm used to (esp. in terms of spiciness), but it definately does the job. The women who runs the place is very friendly too.

It's kind of a dive, but the food is really good. We had marinated pork tacos, guacamole, horchata, and bean-and-cheese tamales. They were all awesome. The pork tacos were probably the best. It was pretty cheap, too.

So happy to find a good taqueria in Ypsi! I recently moved back to MI from San Francisco so it's nice to find a little touch of the Mission. They have lengua tacos, I never expected that. Sooo good.

Simply the best Mexican food in town! The tongue tacos are the outstanding and there is simply no better way to wash it down the with a tall glass of Horchata! Definitely will keep coming back for more...

I've had tamales and tostadas, so far - they were terrific! I especially like their salsa rojo, they leave the pepper seeds in for a nice burn. I'm sad that they don't make the Birria from goat (they use beef.) We've been there twice, and I'm probably going to stop by today and pick up a dozen tamales for the freezer and a burrito for dinner.

The State of Jalisco in west-central Mexico is making an authentic and flavorful statement at the corner of Packard and Carpenter on the southeast side of Ann Arbor. Taqueria La Fiesta had come to my attention through the always food-savvy A-squared Yelp community. Jorge, the gregarious owner of this small taqueria greeted me as I walked through the door of this small restaurant awash in bright, upbeat Mexican colors. He patiently walked me through their limited menu which focuses primarily on two types of taco platters: The first is "Traditional" with corn tortillas filled with a choice of a dozen different fillings and topped with Cilantro and onions. The other is "Gringo-style" with flour tacos with the choice of same 12 filling options topped with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cheese and sour cream. Both platters come with beans and rice. I opted for the Gringo platter to go with a trio of chicken, marinated beef and marinated pork tacos. What an awesome feast...very flavorful, moist, nice combo of ingredients. La Fiesta is a quick and smart alternative to fast food on this side of town and one that I can definitely reco to other Yelpers. I'll throw Jorge four big ones.

The food here is good, but nothing overwhelmingly great. There are places nearby that are better and cheaper, in my opinion. I had a carne asada and pastor taco. Double corn tortillas, cilantro & onion. There could have been more meat in each. I thought the pastor was better (juicier & more flavor). I also had an order of guacamole & chips, it was a little pricey at 7.50, but the portion was a good size. I would've liked more cilantro, lime & onion - but it had good flavor still. I don't know if I would return, not because I disliked the food or had bad service - just not "wow'd".

Surprisingly authentic Mexican cuisine found in a small strip mall in a less-traveled part of Ann Arbor. I was warmly greeted as I entered, ordered from the counter and awaited my food at the table. I'm not usually a taco fan, as I think of tacos as the American version: a crisp tortilla, standing up, with loads of iceberg lettuce, some tomato and filling. Taqueria La Fiesta has replaced that unwelcome image with something much, much nicer. Diners had a choice of "gringo style (as described, but fortunately with a soft tortilla, not a crisp one)," or "traditional." I went for the traditional. The Taco del Dia the day I visited was a choice of beef, chicken, pork or a combo - I went for the 2-out-of-3 (chicken and beef) combo, prepared traditional style, accompanied by beans and rice. I found the dish just as it should be - good quality tortillas (very important), in a quantity that should satisfy most hungry diners. Considering the generous portions, I would consider the prices fair. Glad to find this little bit of Mexico, and definitely would re-visit on future trips to A2.

We ordered a burrito, al pastor tacos, carnitas taco, carne asada taco, chicken taco, jamica drink, and a tamale. All the tacos and burrito were flavorful and perfectly greased. The jamica could have used less water and a little more sugar. And unfortunately the tamale was so dried out, it had a crust layer on the masa, but the chicken inside was good. And great customer service, the girl at the counter was super friendly!

Not impressed. Though, husband and I are originally from SoCal. Scant amount of meat in tacos, pico de gallo had WAAAYY too much onion (2:1 onion-tomato ratio, when it really should be the other way around), salsa verde tasted spoiled, and husband's "asada" burrito was substituted with carnitas. The worst was when we brought up the mix-up, the waitress attempted to cover up the mistake by saying "this is authentic Mexican food, which may be different than what you normally have"... um, actually, we're VERY familiar with authentic Mexican food (I've travelled to Mexico 5x, making friends with locals and being invited to "dinner at abuelita's"). Though the guac was decent, will not be back.

Seriously the best tacos I've ever had. I had the carnitas and the meat was so juicy and flavorful. My friend had chicken tacos and loved hers as well. We had fast and friendly service too. It's a hole in the wall place so don't be fooled by the looks!

Everything I've tried so far is fantastic! Don't forget to ask for the chips! If you want a little adventure, you should ask about beef tongue. The restaurant is not big enough for a large group but they do delivery!

I stopped in today for the first time. It's a small place, with about 5 tables. One of the owners, George, came out and talked with me about their menu and where in Mexico his family is from. He was very friendly, and I got the burria taco combo on his recommendation. The beans were good. The beef was tender and flavorful, though it needed some salt. I also got chips and salsa, and the pico de gallo was clearly freshly made. Basically, it was what I expect from a hole in the wall Mexican joint: good, cheap food with no ambiance or frills. I will return, though for tacos I'd still be inclined to go to TMAZ.

Taqueria La Fiesta is easy to miss. It's not very big and it's set back from the road. But a coworker recommended it, so I decided to stop by this weekend. The inside is small, but it wasn't terribly crowded on a Friday evening. I ordered take out. As a consummate Yelper, I took it upon me to order 1 ground beef taco, 1 marinated shredded beef taco, 1 carne asada taco, 1 pork tamale, and 1 chicken tamale. The inside has various awards for best tacos and best taco meat. And holy frijoles, the tacos were some of the best restaurant tacos I've ever had. I got them gringo (ie white guy) style with lettuce, onions, cheese, and sour cream. Each of the different types of beef were all utterly fantastic. Of note, they have traditional style and white people style tacos - it's always nice to have options like that. Pro tip: Throw Tapatio hot sauce on everything. Unfortunately, the tamales were a little disappointing (probably why it's a taqueria and not a tamaleria...). The pork tasted amazing, but the dough was dry. Similarly, the chicken tasted pretty good (though nowhere near as good as the beef or pork), but the tamale dough was dry. Maybe it was a bad batch or something, though I've seen at least one other Yelp review say they had dry tamales too. The decor is standard fare for a Mexican restaurant. The staff is friendly. They deliver food, but I haven't tried that (good to know though, for those who live close enough). The prices are reasonable. The tamales disappointed, but I am already looking forward to going back and to get some more of those life-changing tacos. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

I've been in Ann Arbor a year, and this is the first time I've ventured out to try mexican food. I'm from California, so I'm admittedly a bit of a snob when it comes to how mexican food should taste. Overall, this was a nice experience. I ordered cheese enchiladas (comes with 3 enchiladas and rice & beans). There is a choice between red and green sauces. I asked for red. The food tasted pretty good, but I was surprised at the lack of enchilada sauce on the enchiladas themselves. I'm used to an excess, enough for the rice to soak up, but these had maybe been barely bathed in sauce. Beans & rice were standard goodness. Overall, a good quick fix for a craving, and I'll go again, until I can go back to California and get the real deal. Word to the wise, if you are picking up your order, order 15-20 minutes ahead of time. I waited over 30 minutes because there were many Grub Hub and to-go orders ahead of me.

If you get a chance to go to this place definitely try the tamales. I never knew they could taste so good. Their shrimp taco is also fantastic. This place is a hole in the wall but the food is well worth the wait. And it is always consistently good.

I'm so glad I finally got to try this place after several failed attempts a couple of years ago (went on a Sunday that might have been a religious holiday, so it was closed). It is a small place with a colorful interior--definitely has a family-owned feel to it. My friend & I were seated immediately and got unlimited chips and green salsa. I opted for the Jarritos mango soda (yum!), while he got the tamarind. I opted for the three tamales platter (came with rice & beans - $7.95), which I thought was a fair amount of food at a good price. They were a little bland until I got the squeeze bottles of tomatillo salsa and some other chili salsa. But I really enjoyed the meal! My friend got some soupy dish with tripe (Menudo) that came with tortillas, but I didn't get to try it. It looked awesome though, and he thoroughly enjoyed his order of flan. I'll definitely be back to try it, but I was just too full from a week of gluttony to continue eating. As a plus, the young lady who works the register & as a server is SO friendly and fun to make conversation with! :) I definitely hope to come back soon to try more items from their menu!

The place is very tiny, but what they lack in atmosphere, they make up with everything else. They give very friendly and fast service, they have daily specials, and the food is so good! They left chips and salsa at the table before we had our meal. The salsa was really good but super spicy! My husband and I aren't good with spicy things but we kept trying to eat it cause the flavor was good. I'm still thinking about how delicious the tacos I had were! (And it's been a couple of days.) I got it 3 different ways, and they were all pretty solid. My favorite was the steak, it was phenomenal. I usually don't like ordering steak with any kind of Mexican because there are a lot of places that over cook the steak to death, but at this place it is so soft and cooked perfectly. I left full and satisfied and could not believe how great the price of my my meal was. I got 3 tacos, beans and rice, and chips and salsa for 5.30! When I told the nice lady that worked there that it was our first time, she gave us a bunch of info about their takeout menu and delivery, and gave us a coupon. I love this place, and I know my husband and I will be back.

I ordered a large catering order (courtesy of groupon) 2 days before I needed it. Late notice was my fault; however they still did the order for me!! The service was excellent, food tasted GREAT (I think we got steak, chicken and some marinated pork trays) and they even helped me carry everything to to my car! I'll definitely be back:)

Quaint little place. Food is delicious, especially the tacos. Service is good although it often takes awhile to get the food. My only recommendation would be to come here when you're not in a hurry. However, at least you know your food is fresh.

Reading the reviews, I was excited. I pulled up and was thinking this could go either way. I was expecting a good hole in the wall spot. But I was a little disappointed in the food quality. The tacos were only okay. Steak, was okay. It had some flavor but it wasn't delicious. I also got barbacoa which was bland, not much flavor. Then pastor, which they forgot and I had to remind them about it. When they brought it out, it tasted very nasty and not normal. It wasn't salty, or anything like that... It just had a very odd and gross taste to it. I immediately spit it out as I was actually worried about the odd flavor. Since it was my last taco, I just went ahead and paid for my food and left. I was there on business and needed a detailed receipt, all the last could give me was those paper ones they write on. I asked about the other receipt but she said they needed to keep it. I don't plan on coming back here next time I'm in town for work, I suggest you also try to find a different restaurant. The wait time for my food, quality and overall experience was very poor. I went back to work hungry only reason it's 2 stars instead of 1 is because I've only been here 1 time and the chips and salsa filled my empty stomach

My hubs and I came here on Valentine's day and was slightly disappointed with my food. I ordered my usual (two traditional barbacoa tacos) and I'm not sure if it was because we went there towards the end of the night, but the meat was very dry. Every other time I've gone in (usual during lunch rush or just before), the meat has been so tender and melt in your mouth, but not this time. The chips and salsa were amazing, per usual and they were even giving complimentary guacamole or queso fundido (cheese dip with/wo chorizo) and we decided to get the gauc, since I've seen so many positive reviews. We were definitely not disappointed! And it's probably the best gauc I've had in Washtenaw County. I would have to say TLF and Mexican Fiesta II in Canton are probably the best I've had in Michigan. I still stand by last review about the salsa...the best I've ever had in my life! There's enough kick and still it's pretty healthy and chunky. I'm not too big of fan of their two hot sauces that they bring out and if there is any salsa left over, I would put that in my tacos. My hubs ordered the quesadilla plate and I was so impressed at how tasty a queasdilla could taste! He ordered his quesadilla with chorizo, which came with a side of rice and refried beans. The rice and beans are okay and I normally don't get it...especially cause I normally get full off of two tacos and the chips and salsa of course =) I love how affordable this place is for people on a tight budget. We are definitely going to be going back!

Awesome food! Excellent service! Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants authentic mexican food. Felt bad for the guy because he gave all of his waitresses the day off to celebrate that stupid hallmark holiday. Forget what it's called but it's irrelevant for the fact that if we didn't live so far, we would go there as much as possible. Keep up the great food! And thanks for the extra fresh guacamole for my birthday. Muy muy delicioso!

Maybe more of a 2.5. Also, take my review with discretion, as I grew up in Southern California, where there's authentic Mexican joints at almost every corner. I really enjoyed the complimentary salsa and chips. The salsa was a real Mexican salsa (with onions and cilantro). And it was a tad bit spicy...perfect for chips. I got the marinated beef burrito, which I would not do again. I would get the carne asada. Why? Just my personal preference. I don't like the shredded-ness of the marinated beef. I prefer carne asada. The burrito was a decent portion. Not that big and filling, but not small to a point where you're still hungry, either. There was also a pile of shredded lettuce on the side (there was some in the burrito already)...not sure why. Maybe they overestimated how much my burrito would need and had excess. I also had the horchata. It's decent, maybe 3 star-4 star quality. Cinnamon-y but definitely not the best I've had. The shop is a little small, and there was only one server. She was, however, very nice and accommodating. They seem to store all their sauces, liquids, etc. in the fridge, which is awesome. I like my water cold. I don't know if I'll come back, but if I do, I'll be sure to eat lots of that salsa....

I can't say enough good things about this place. We came here after a horrible appointment at the travel clinic nearby and just wanted to indulge in an awesome dinner. And we were not disappointed! We were the only people in the place which normally makes us nervous (plus in all honesty it is a bit divey), but it had such good yelp reviews we were down to try it. The girl who waited on us was so nice. She helped us mix and match a la carte items to get my son tacos just the way we do it at home which we know he loves. She also got his food started before ours, recognizing the need to keep him fed quickly! My husband and I both got the burrito gigante with carne asada. It was simply amazing. The burrito had a thin layer of refried beans and just a little bit of cheese and sour cream inside as well. It wasn't drowning in fatty sauces or cheese which made it really fresh tasting. There was also a lot of lettuce in the burrito. We got the platter version with came with a plate of beans and rice. Everything was outstanding. *the map is incorrect, the restaurant is actually east of carpenter road not west.

I was looking for a place to have lunch with one of my bestie and the reviews here were great, so it was a must time for foodies like me and her! We found the place after getting through the construction on Packard and Carpenter (what a mess). We went inside and all their tables were almost full of patrons! That's always a good sign. We ordered and the food didn't take too long to come out and we were not disappointed! I know they were busy with takeout orders but it was worth the wait. I had an assortment of tacos and it came with rice and beans. My friend had the tamale platter and she was in heaven. It's a must try if you are in the area. The staff is super nice and one of the guys asked us to come back to try the loco pollo! We'll be back soon to try the rest of the items on the menu.

This place gets an A-OK for the friendly lady who works in front and as the server. FYI they are open until 9pm (the lady was telling me that they used to close at 6, so now no one comes later). Located on Packard road near the intersection of Carpenter. This small taqueria probably seats 15-20 people max. They bring you complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is watery and not super tasty. I had the traditional tacos plate -- 3 tacos with a side of beans and rice. The tacos were fine. I had chorizo, carnitas, and al pastor. The chorizo is pretty spicy, which I liked. The other meats were fine as well. Wish it had come with more than one lime wedge though. Friend got cheese enchiladas which were a little disappointing. Yelp check in deal is 10% off your bill.

Absolutely the best Mexican. I work in Mexico town and have my favorite restaurants there and it's wonderful to have an authentic Mexican place in Ypsilanti. Yes, the salsa is not my favorite salsa but I live for the horchata and pastor gringa, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. It's now my go to place for date night wit my fiance.

Nice people, great tacos. Lucky me I came in on taco Tuesday. 5$ for four tacos. The guacamole is very good.

Tried it again and still I must give it just two stars. Tried the quesadilla platter. Nothing you couldn't make yourself easily - get a few tortillas, some cheese, some rice and refried beans, pop them all into the microwave, and you'll have basically what you get here. Except of course here you pay $6.95++ ($8.41 after 6% tax and 15% tip). And wait pretty long too.

This is a pathetic excuse for authentic Mexican food. I would rather eat Taco Bell. I recently ordered the burrito and enchilada plate. There was no red sauce on the enchiladas and the burrito tasted as if it was made with very low quality ingredients. If you're trying to get your Mexican food fix, I would NOT recommend this place at all. Over priced for the poor quality and overall bad experience. However, the rice was okay, which isn't too hard to mess up.

We stopped in for lunch to try something new. First thing we noticed was chips that seemed a little stale and lacked crunch. They didn't work so well for the nachos. The tamales were a little too dried out. The grilled steal tacos had some really fatty meat on them. I'd say the flavor of everything was quite good, but the little details knock the rating down. The waitress was very friendly and chatted with the kids. The cook in the kitchen yelling at her about how to properly write substitutions on an order was kind of obnoxious.

The best authentic Mexican food I've ever had. Do you love guacamole? Because they have guacamole that I could eat like ice cream. The Traditional Taco Platter is incredible; their meat selection makes each trip fantastic.

The best Mexican food in Ypsi/Ann Arbor. Great tamales and quesadillas - the salsa verde is delicious! Worth a try!

If you are looking for Mexican food in the Ypsilanti / Ann Arbor area this is the place to go. A small little place with amazing food and service. First the service. Super nice staff that are very pleasant, honest and happy to serve kids. I have a 2 year old and the staff made our stay very comfortable. Second, the food. I had the beef burrito and it was hands down the best I've had in a long time, probably since i was last in Mexico. The nachos are other-wordly. Lastly , the prices are more then fair. Great times!

The tacos were quite good - comparable to TMAZ. I ordered the tacos gringo platter. The platter comes with rice and beans. It's not worth the extra cost. If I could do it again, I would just order three individual tacos. The cheese quesadilla was surprisingly tasty, but overpriced. Also, the staff was very friendly.

Very good tacos. If you like Spicy, this is a good place for you. Great flavors. Just a little ma and pa place. Nothing fancy, just good food for an OK price. After I ate I went to use the bathroom. You have to walk through the kitchen to get to it. The food cooking smelled so good that it was making me hungry again.

Take-Out Taco Review Total Average Taco Score: 7.83 (low 7.5 high 9) type: small restaurant price: $1.80 each 9 - atmosphere: warm yellow painted walls with door painted blue. Good music. Filled with gringos, though. Super friendly service 7.5 - salsa: green (citrusy and sour - mild and medium hot) 9 - carne asada (steak): a little salty, good amount of chew, flavorful 8 - pollo (chicken): shredded, little salty, tender and spiced 6.5 - al pastor (pork): good grilled onion flavor but not crazy about the other spices - doesn't taste as marinated Notes: A lot on this menu is for the gringas/os. If you go in and order tacos, you have to specify you want it traditional (corn tortillas, cilantro, onion) and NOT gringo (flour tortilla, cheese, sour cream, lettuce). I get the feeling a lot on the menu can be asked for "traditional style" off-menu. Probe the lady for information. I bet you'll get some amazing local flavor if you bypass El Menu For El Whiteys. --------------- Notes for list: - I go in blind - no reviews no nothin' - just me and my own palate - going geographically from one side of the strip to the other - ranked out of 10: 10 being the best street tacos from Mexico (in small towns and big cities) - short and to the point: sorry, no fancy artful writing - a girl's gotta plow through these puppies!

The little girl that works here is ADORABLE. We came it at like 3:30pm 30 minutes before they closed and they were so nice. It's really small inside, but it dosn't seem like they get a lot of people there at once so it shouldn't be an issue. The food was authentic(!!) (i'm from california and spent some time in mexico, so it's nice to see some good mexican food in michigan.) I got the pozole soup b/c that was their special and it was gooooooood. The portions are also huge. +1 star for family restaurant cuteness and amazing hospitality. Also, if you ride your bike there you get 15% off? (There was a sticker on the counter)

My 7 year old son and I both give Taqueria La Fiesta 5 starts for the single time we ate here. It took me a lot to convince him to try somewhere different than a chain restaurant for Mexican food even though he only ever orders cheese quesadillas! He didn't want to order the rice because it was "tomato" based, so I ordered it for myself and then he ate it all!! My Vegetarian Burrito was Perfection and the house hot sauces were brilliant! I snuck a bite of my own rice from my son and loved that too! Simple food cooked Right!

This place is amazing, I honestly go here every Tuesday for their taco special (4 tacos for $5). The food is authentic, delicious, and not expensive. I've had some other items there like the Pork and cactus dish, which was also delicious. The staff is great and the owner, George, is fun and friendly. Try this place out and you'll probably become a regular.

I know live in San Diego and I will say this is the best mexican food compared to here I've had in Michigan! Small shop but it's so like out here in appearance and food quality!

Great food, great service, great price. Portion might be a little on the smaller size, but it's fair for the price. We were instantly hooked on their cactus pears dishes. We will definitely be bringing friends. I didn't give 5 stars bc they don't serve alcohol and the server is really annoying.

This was the first restaurant we ever ate at in Ann Arbor, and it remains one of our favorites in the area for good, authentic mexican food. They make great quesadillas, and anything with chicken tends to be done well here. My one complaint would be that the guacamole isn't always the freshest, but the owner and staff are extremely nice and always willing to accommodate if you aren't satisfied with something. And that's a big if, because all-in-all, La Fiesta serves some of the most satisfying mexican dishes in the area.

Taqueria is BACK! We've made three visits and really like the new staff and new recipes. What's good: NOTE: make sure you don't get stuck with "gringo" taco fixings, nothing would ruin this food faster than loads of shredded iceburg lettuce, cheese, and other extraneous crap...lime, onion, cilantro is all that's needed! Barbacoa platter with corn tortillas. Savory braised meat, lots of sauce (is served in a bowl) onions, touch of cinnamon, chilis, garlic. Braised Pork with Red Chili sauce. Either in a taco or as a platter. Shred the chunks of pork with your fork before wrapping in a corn tortillas and adding onion, cilantro and lime. Mm! Tamales are tasty - I prefer the bean/cheese or Pork varietals. Sides are good, I like the refried beans. Rice has a nice, spicy flavor instead of just tasting ketchupy (like at most places). Tacos with Potato and Chorizo are awesome and comfort-foodie. Do NOT get it with the cheese and lettuce (as it says on the menu description), it will be ruined if you do.

Good authentic food and great customer service. I had the corn platter and my wife had the tamales. The tamales were slightly dry coz we were having a late lunch and they didnt have the red sauce. Horchatas were really good as well.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
